The 5th International Conference on Integrated Coastal Management & Marine Biotechnology (ICMMBT) 2025, organized by the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (CCMRS) of IPB University, in collaboration with Deakin University and Monash University, aims to foster knowledge sharing on coastal and ocean environment management. Since its inception in 2016, the ICMMBT has become a recognized platform focusing on Integrated Coastal Management (ICM), highlighting its effectiveness in managing coastal and ocean areas holistically.
The conference will explore the successes and challenges of ICM practices globally and their contributions to the sustainable blue economy. Key areas of focus include conservation of marine resources, responsible development of coastal industries, infrastructure and technology development, policy establishment, community involvement, and research and innovation.
Marine biotechnology (MBT) will also be a significant theme, emphasizing its role in utilizing coastal and marine biological resources for producing valuable goods and services, contributing to societal well-being and environmental restoration.
The event aims to document good practices and innovations in ICM and MBT, providing valuable insights for stakeholders and supporting the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goal 14 on Life below Water. The conference is also expected to boost IPB University’s status as a world-class university through increased quality publications by its researchers, lecturers, and students.
